Concussion Awareness

1 May 2017 by Rebecca Belousoff

Hi everyone,

Now that hockey is in full swing for this winter season it is important to remember that the safety of ourselves, team mates and opposition is of vital importance. Injury is common in our sport and should be treated seriously at all times, especially so for any knocks to the head from either a ball, stick or another player. Any sustained head injury can lead to concussion which can have serious side effects. I would recommend that everyone have a look at the following website to understand what concussion is, the symptoms of the condition and what needs to be done. I have also attached a pocket concussion recognition tool on the noticeboard. Please have a read as your knowledge may help someone on or off the field one day.
